In early 2017 we were approached by the research team for the Shetland crime drama to see if the ruins and beach below Brekka Lodge could be used to film scenes for series four for the BBC.
We were delighted to play host to the actors, extras and their huge film team, caterers, etc.... in June 2017. It was a huge privilege to share a little of our beautiful location with the enthusiast, professional team and to have DI Jimmy Perez (played by Douglas Henshall), DS Alison McIntosh (played by Alison O’Donnell), DC Sandy Wilson (played by Steven Robertson - a Shetlander), Sally McColl (played by Amy Lennox) and Cora Mclean (played by Anne Kidd) in our living room which was used as a Green Room or the day.
Our Brekka Lodge guests were star struck by the actors and activities viewed throughout the day of filming.
Since our personal interaction with the Shetland crime drama an announcement has been made that saw further series recorded in Shetland. Each series features six hour-long episodes.
We hope you enjoy the Shetland crime drama programs which create distinctive and emotionally complex narratives that unfold against the stunning and evocative landscapes of Shetland.
When visiting Shetland keep your eyes open for scenes seen in the series. A must is a visit to the house which is depicted as being the home of DI Perez. Newer series feature DI Calder played by Ashley Jensen.
We are delighted to have received the Traveller’s Choice Award, following on from the Certificate of Excellence awards we earned in previous years. Due to recent changes on TripAdvisor, single properties can no longer receive new reviews.
