This family property was refurbished in 2010 and is only 1 mile south of Brekka Lodge. The close proximity makes both properties the ideal choice for families or friends who wish to holiday together.

The Shetland Islands are some of the most remote and beautiful islands in Britain. Shetland has been described as the best place in the UK to see the magnificant sight of the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights, known locally as the Mirrie Dancers. For your best chance to see this glorious sight visit Shetland and stay in either of our properties between October and March.
It is rumoured by scientists and others that 2013 will be a great time to see the Aurora Borealis as it is forecasted that there will be a higher frequency of sightings due to a period of peak solar activity. Book now for a stay between October 2012 and March 2013.
Brekka Lodge and Newlynn Cottage are fantastic bases for enjoying Shetland’s abundance of wildlife due to their geographic location. Situated midway between the UK and the Arctic, Shetland is on a migration flyway. Large numbers of birds pass through the islands on their migrations to and from the Arctic. Several species stop off to feed, and the island’s position also attracts many vagrant species from North America and Asia that have been blown off course.
As a result Shetland is renowned as a rarity hotspot which also incurs a human migration. View the latest bird sightings in Shetland. Note the number of sightings in Fladdabister, Ocraquoy and Cunningsburgh showing why our Shetland self catering properties are popular with bird watchers and visitors who enjoy bird and birding. Book now for a Spring or Autumn break in the hope of finding some of these rare stragglers.
You too can have the "Simon King Shetland Diary Experience" in Shetland.
